BELLEVUE, WA – The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is today congratulating voters in two Colorado legislative districts for successfully recalling anti-gun Democrat Senators John Morse and Angela Giron.

“Tuesday’s recall vote affirms that the power of government ultimately resides in the hands of the people,” CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb said. “Anti-gunners are wailing that this election was bought by the so-called ‘gun lobby,’ but organizations didn’t vote yesterday in Colorado Springs and Pueblo, the people did.

“This was a huge victory for civil rights over extremism,” he added, “and the well-financed gun prohibition movement knows it. In reality, what yesterday’s election shows is that big money, the kind shelled out by anti-gun New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, really can’t buy an election.

“And why was Bloomberg even involved,” Gottlieb queried. “He’s got no business messing in Colorado politics, and it is encouraging to see that Centennial State voters have essentially said his money is no good.

“The downfall of John Morse and Angela Giron should send a message that extremist anti-gun politicians are not beyond the reach of angry voters,” he said. “Even members of their own party appear to have voted to oust them, putting their constitutional rights above knee-jerk party loyalty.

“The so-called ‘gun lobby’ didn’t win Tuesday,” Gottlieb concluded. “The Constitution and the people won. Colorado gun owners turned anger and frustration into action. This should stand as a warning to gun prohibitionists everywhere that your extremist agenda does not trump civil rights.”
