Washington E.S.S.H.B. 1143 would unjustly force free citizens to buy a “Permit to Purchase a Firearm” before they could buy or transfer a firearm.

Before being granted a permit, the applicant must prove that s/he completed a required training course.

Each time a person buys a firearm, s/he must submit an application containing (among other info), the ID number of their permit to purchase, name, address, gender, race and a “…description of the firearm including the make, model, caliber and manufacturer’s number…”.

Some of the Required Training:

  • Firearms and children, including secure gun storage and talking to children about gun safety
  • Firearms and suicide prevention
  • Secure gun storage to prevent unauthorized access and use
  • Techniques for avoiding a criminal attack and how to manage a violent confrontation, including conflict resolution
  • The training must be sponsored by a federal, state, county, or municipal law enforcement agency, a college or university, or nationally recognized organization.
  • Training course must be certified by Washington State Patrol
