BELLEVUE, WA – A grassroots effort by the Arizona State Rifle & Pistol Association to have the State Legislature designate the Colt Single Action Army revolver as the Official State Firearm got support today from the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms.

Arizona gun rights activists are calling on House Speaker Kirk Adams to schedule a hearing on SB1610. His telephone number is (602) 926-5495 and his e-mail address is kadams@azleg.gov. Supporters of the bill are encouraged to call the speaker.

CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb, who owns property and a home near Phoenix, called the measure “A grand idea that highlights Arizona’s colorful history, and helps keep America’s firearms tradition alive.”

“There is much more at stake here than mere symbolism,” said ASRPA’s Landis Aden. “As with the case in Utah where the legislature designated the Colt Model 1911 the official state firearm, this bill will continue to acknowledge that firearms have been a vitally important part of American history and freedom. We cannot allow the truth to be ignored or forgotten.”

Aden and his fellow ASRPA members are urging Arizona gun owners to call their two state representatives and encourage them to also support SB 1610.
