BELLEVUE, WA – The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms doubled down today in its assertion that House Democrats led by anti-gun Congressman Jerry Nadler are pushing impeachment of President Donald Trump in an effort to derail his efforts to balance the federal courts and strengthen the Second Amendment.

“Whatever else House Democrats are doing,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb, “it remains clear to us that they want to obstruct the president’s progress on restoring the courts with judges who understand and adhere to the Constitution. Congressman Nadler even admitted, perhaps unintentionally, that his party does not want to wait for next year’s elections, essentially taking power away from voters to decide the direction of the country.

“The president’s court appointments have frustrated and infuriated congressional liberals and their gun control supporters,” Gottlieb continued. “Imagine what the president could do in one more year, much less over the next five years. His appointments will become his greatest legacy, and make the Second Amendment great again.”

Gottlieb noted that President Trump’s court appointments have fulfilled one of his most important campaign pledges.

“We said it before and we will continue saying the people determined to oust Donald Trump are the same people who work closely with the gun prohibition lobby to erode the right to keep and bear arms,” Gottlieb stated. “They were silent when Barack Obama attempted to obstruct Congress by withholding documents related to the Fast and Furious gun running investigation by declaring executive privilege. Nobody pushed for impeachment then.

“So,” he observed, “here we are with the House Judiciary Committee approving two articles of impeachment, which Democrats must realize will never stand Senate scrutiny. It’s the culmination of a three-year tantrum over the outcome of the 2016 election which, had it gone the other way, could have resulted in irreparable damage to the courts and especially the Second Amendment.

“The one thing anti-gun Democrats want to impeach more than Trump are the rights of gun owners,” he said.

“The country needs for this nonsense to end,” Gottlieb concluded. “We expect that will happen when, and if, this partisan charade reaches the U.S. Senate. We hope the Senate will quickly dispense with the theatrics and get back to the serious business of strengthening the courts and the Constitution.”
