BELLEVUE, WA – John Lott, founder of the Crime Prevention Research Center and author of the landmark book “More Guns, Less Crime,” is the recipient of this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award from the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms.

Lott, an economist, author, writer, researcher and political commentator, has other titles to his credit including “The Bias Against Guns” “Gun Control Myths,” and “The War on Guns.” He frequently authors Op-Ed pieces for various publications, and worked for a short time at the Office of Justice Programs in the Department of Justice during the final months of the Donald Trump administration. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from UCLA, and he has, according to an online biography, held positions at Yale Law School, the Hoover Institution, UCLA, Texas A&M, Rice University and the Wharton Business School. He has appeared frequently at the annual Gun Rights Policy Conference.

“John Lott’s work over the years has shaken loose many of the establishment’s long-held beliefs about firearms and gun owners, forcing serious re-examination of popular doctrines that had been taken for granted far too long,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “His work has ignited much-needed debate about gun control, bringing a much-needed different perspective, supported by new and surprising data, that has refuted myths and outright lies upon which the gun control movement has all-too comfortably existed for decades.”

Lott offered a humble “Thank you” to CCRKBA as the recipient of an award shared by some exclusive company, including the late Joseph Tartaro, longtime president of the Second Amendment Foundationand an authority on the modern gun rights movement, and Don Turner, longtime president of the Nevada Firearms Coalition who passed away earlier this year.

Lott told CCRKBA he has several projects currently underway, confirming that the firearms community has not heard the last from the groundbreaking researcher.
